Tuesday Couch Potato: The Cutting Edge

It's already November. Whew!! Days are really scurrying so fast. I am excited for my due date when I can see my unborn baby for the first time. November 3rd's edition for Tuesday Couch Potatoes is DRAMA. We'll talk about movies which made us cry, made our emotions soar up high and cause us to be nostalgic way and beyond.

For my top pick and I considered it as drama, though it's more of Romance, I love the THE CUTTING EDGE..

The king of the Rink meets America's Ice Queen.

Starred by D.B. Sweeny as Dough Dorsey (the Hockey King) and Moira Kelly as Kate Mosely theirs was the Ultimate Love/ Skate relationship.

At the 1988 Winter Olympics at Calgary we see Doug Dorsey battered in a vicious hockey game against West Germany. We then see a Kate doing her program and falling when a lift goes bad. Both have fought all their life to get to the Olympics and suddenly the dream has been shattered. The movie then follows a tempermental but talented figure skater Kate through many partners until finally her coach resorts to recruiting a hockey player. Through the difficult training of 15 hours of skating a day they finally prepare for Nationals and the Olympics. A romance is budding and their final show could bend or break them as they try to achieve their dreams of an Olympic Gold medal.

The Cutting Edge is a classic movie and one which I never get tired of watching. I have watched it since High-school and till now at present whenever I feel like watching. It made me cry loads of tears and makes me like a floating fairy whenever I see their last performance at the end part.

The chemistry between Moira Kelly and D.B. Sweeney really heightens this picture, even before you see the impressive scenery and fantastic skating sequences.

The script is filled with quotable gems, (It's not like his nose was perfect) and what could be a fairly thin story (that, OK, has been done before) is lifted firmly out of the cliche zone by first class direction, a thumping early 90's pop soundtrack and breathtaking choreography.

I can't find fault in this movie - it's one of my top five - and would recommend it as a family favorite. You'll surely get the warm fuzzies while watching it. It gives credit to romance and beautiful story of how love can grow from being cat and dog at the beginning.

For the giddiyap that I've got while watching it, this movie gets a very enthusiastic 10/10 from me. Yay!!!

I don't know why every time I'm on the ending scene my heart would always stop, my tears would start falling and my emotions are surging.. I really can't explain.. Can you watch the last scene with me and tell me why I feel like this?
